I was looking through all my paperwork (yes I am that crazy nail lady that physically has to write everything done. I have a nail folder ha-ha). I realised I never actually told you when I started the Untried Year.
When Did It Start?
Well I started it in 2015, it was late in August when I actually had no nail polish on and I decided I would start to use all of my untried nail polishes. I have so many and obviously that is going to keep growing and growing, when such beautiful polishes keep coming out and just tempting us. I also found when I was writing my currently wearing I seemed to have the same polishes had been used. This is why the untried year happened.
All About The Untried Year
I was asked on Instagram as I posted something on my Instagram stories, have you used all of that in one year. The answer is no obviously, I wish I painted my nails that often. I only paint my nails once a week, but the last few months I have been painting them a lot more often. I don't do swatches because I feel if I wore a polish for say less than an hour, I would feel that I had an accurate opinion on the polish, say the colour or the formula.
I would love to be able to do swatches and get them out and tell you my opinion on a whole collection. But I don't have the best camera and I don't feel that is something for me. Seeing as there is so many amazing swatchers out there on blogs, instagram and YouTube. All you need to do is find a polish you want and literally just search it because you know someone has posted something about it already. That is the magic of the nail polish community!
Will I be carrying it on?
Yes yes yes. I will and I will keep on going forever, maybe sometimes I will start to wear the polishes over again if I fancy too. I want to keep using more polishes as in the year 2016 I used a total of 65 polishes, this year I want to try and reach 70 polishes used in 2017. This will be my aim.
If you have any questions on the untried year, I would love to do another post on it. I have got a few ideas in mind when this year has finished. I realise this year is going super quick and you have to be pretty prepared haha. But honestly, I do have a few posts ready for this.
I'm sure you can get to your aim of 70 this year! Just keep trying and maybe include some mid week changes to help.
ReplyDeleteI love swatching & have found the only thing I can't comment on is wear time, but then again I feel that's so personal. It all depends on oil levels in a persons nails, how they apply & topcoat and what they do with their hands daily. No person keeps all factors the same when trying polishes over different weeks (sometimes they may have a bath, or do a big house clean, maybe they're out in colder weather or don't stay as hydrated etc) and those things can impact polish wear, whatever you have on the nail. Basically, even after a good long time on the nails, I feel this is still a difficult one to judge.
And I think you'd make a great swatcher! Your images are fab. I use my phone to do mine.

To be honest the last few months I have painted my nails more in the last couple of months than I ever have. Yeah I work with water constantly so my nails do tend to chip quite a bit. Aww thank you, I would love to swatch if I had more time. But I do enjoy doing challenges too. xx
